164 years from the birth of Hristo Botev

Today, January 6th, is the 164th anniversary from the birth of the big Bulgarian revolutionary, poet and fighter for freedom Hristo Botev. He is one of the major figures in the fight for freedom of Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule in the middle of the 19th century. Botev died from an enemy bullet in 1876, during an uprising against the rulers. He also left a lot of legendary poems about love, freedom and the Bulgarian character.

As patron of "Botev Plovdiv", the revolutionary was honoured by the players and staff of the football club. In the morning, Nikolay Domakinov and Vasil Vasilev laid wreaths in front of the Hristo Botev's monument on the club's stadium. Later, they did the same in the birth place of Botev - Kalofer, during the traditional annual ceremony there.
