Botev Plovdiv deserved a big win in the first friendly game of the mid-season preparation session. The Canaries beat 4-0 Septemvri Simitli - sixth in the Western "B" group and - just like Botev - a quarterfinalist in the Bulgarian Cup. All the new players, with the exception of Marian Ognyanov, took part in the game. One of them - Dean Hristov scored the first goal. In the 34th minute of the first half, Petar Atanasov scored for 2-0. The second half started with a new squad. Again the yellow-black scored two goals - this time Irfan Yuseinov netted both of them. The next friendly is on February 1st, against Pomorie.

Botev Plovdiv continues with the promising signings in this winter transfer market. Today, Marian Ognyanov bonded with Botev for 2.5 years. The 23-year old midfielder comes from Levski Sofia. The best moment in his career came in 2006, when he scored against Chelsea in a group-stage game in the UEFA Champions League.

The Board of directors of Botev, the vice-mayor responsible for the sports activities in Plovdiv Georgi Tityukov and the architect and project leader Georgi Stoev all stood in front of the media for the presentation and answering questions.

164 years from the birth of Hristo Botev

Today, January 6th, is the 164th anniversary from the birth of the big Bulgarian revolutionary, poet and fighter for freedom Hristo Botev. He is one of the major figures in the fight for freedom of Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule in the middle of the 19th century. Botev died from an enemy bullet in 1876, during an uprising against the rulers. He also left a lot of legendary poems about love, freedom and the Bulgarian character.

Two new signings a week after New Year

In just two days Botev Plovdiv signed with two new players. The midfielder Hristo Telkiiski, who comes from second division Greece team Iraklis, became the first new player for the winter transfer window yesterday(January 5th). Today, the forward Deyan Hristov(pictured above) also signed an 1,5 year contract. Hristov is expected to play crucial role in the Botev Plovdiv's attack.
